Virtual MOCA: Giving Tuesday

Virtual

MOCA will share ways that we can come together to support our communities in need every Tuesday via our social media channels. Whether renewing your membership, ordering delivery from local independent businesses, or donating goods and services to those that could use it the most, Giving Tuesday will highlight ways we can all help sustain and strengthen our communities.

MOCA makes education more collaborative, inclusive, learner-centered, and nurtures intellectual growth through transformative experiences with contemporary art. Today, we would like to highlight out award-winning classroom partnership program Contemporary Art Start (CAS)–MOCA's partnership program for 3rd-12th grade classrooms across Los Angeles County.

Registration for the 2020-21 program is now open to teachers! Join fellow educators for a yearlong exploration of contemporary art and inquiry-based teaching, both online and in person. MOCA coaches teachers on how to use Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) to facilitate dynamic, inclusive discussions about works of art kids care about. In the process, students build essential cognitive and social skills that make meaningful discussion possible, while learning how to think for themselves.

Register by June 19; CAS 2020-21 is FREE. For more information, contact Associate Director of Education, School, & Teacher Programs Jeanne Hoel at jhoel@moca.org.
